My weight loss struggle

I know I haven't blogged in way too long. I am been so busy. I am blogging now because I need help. And if you are someone who sells products or services related to weight-loss I don't want to hear from you. I need the help of other people in the struggle.

If you read my column in the Daily News you know I am trying to loose a lot of weight but I keep loosing and gaining the same 10 pounds. I can't even believe how hard this is for me. Are you struggling from the same problem or are you fit and have some advice for me? Leave a comment - I need the moral support.

Hey Candy!

I'm happy to have found your website and blog. As for weight problems... whoa momma! I'm in the same boat as you. I was doing really well before Christmas. I had the Canada Food Guide pasted to the fridge door and everytime I wanted a snack, I'd add up my fruits and vegies for the day, ensure that I didn't pass my bread count (a HUGE weakness of mine)and avoid sweets. I was working out on the treadmill 6X a week and feeling great. And then... duh da da duh... Christmas hit and my willpower plummeted and I have regained 20 pounds! To try to re-energize myself I have borrowed the Bob Greene book (Get with the Program) which I like because 1) it follows the Canda Food Guide, and 2) explains how your cells work whick I love knowing. I'm not saying that I'd follow the plan to the letter, but am hoping that reading the health stuff will get me motivated. Good luck to you and congratulations on all the great stuff happening for you! Colleen

Candy, I saw you on television today getting pampered. I must tell you I think you look great!! I have always been thin until my daughter, after that I yooyoo-ed and I am quit overweight. I put an extra 40pounds on the last 1.5 yrs on top of my already cute but chunky self then..LOL. I have started weightwatchers and it's not easy but truly the points system or the core plan. I have tried Atkins, lost a chunk of weight but i don't want to eat like that forever. I wanted to eat anything i want in reason and also bank my unused points for anything my dam heart or stomache wanted. I have lost 11 pounds in 3 wks. Slow and steady wins the race,,because i was once a fast bunny and lost alot at once and it's true, you'll gain back even more. Keep trying, don't give up and trust me, there are so many of us out there feeling the same as you.
Nothing happens majically, you have to decide how much it's worth to you to keep trying for success! It's an uphill journey but it takes effort and you'll feel better in the end!
Best of luck,
Jennifer :)

Hi Candy,

I saw you speak at the Canada School of Public Service recently and was bowled over by your presence and personality. Your enthusiasm and gutsiness are a true inspiration to women across Canada. Thank you for sharing your story so candidly with us!

On the weight loss front, I am someone who has struggled with her weight since a young age. I was in Weight Watchers by the time I was 13 but the weight still kept piling on. I have tried other "diets" since then and none have worked (at least not in the long run). For this reason, I would recommend exorcising the word "diet" from your vocabulary and tossing out any fad diet books that you may have. I would also recommend that you stop weighing yourself regularly. That may sound counterintuitive, but in my opinion it is the best way to go. I stopped focusing on dieting and depriving myself and instead focused on getting healthy and feeling good about myself. I also found an activity that I love doing, and this is so important if you want to stick with something in the long term (for me it was kickboxing and boxing). I lost over 50 pounds seven years ago by following a moderate diet (increasing my intake of fresh fruit and veggies, whole grain foods, etc.) and increasing my activity level. You also have to give yourself some slack - don't cut out all sweets and "junk food" - just have smaller portions of them on a less regular basis. Also, making little changes can have major consequences: I stopped using butter and margarine altogether and have cut out as much refined sugar as possible. I also used to eat a lot of ketchup but I now use salsa in its place because it has less sugar and more nutrients (but it still adds lots of flavour). Everyone has bad days and it's important not to beat yourself up if you "fall off the wagon" now and then...everyone does! I know that most of what I've said has been said before but I just wanted to share some of the lessons I've learned along the way...I wish you all the very best on your weight loss journey!

If you administer the weight loss drug Phentermine in accordance with the instructions of the doctor and altogether in your phentermine regimen, if you follow the necessary Phentermine precautions, the medicine would surely yield results for you. Comprehensive details on Phentermine dosage, Phentermine mechanism and other relevant information are available at http://www.pill-care.com/phentermine.html .
